Default Group Raiding?

I haven't seen or heard much on raiding in GW. I am going to get this game soon, but I'd like to know more about raiding in GW first.

1) How many raids are there? Few? Many?

2) What size raids are there

Why do you presume there is raiding?

Oh I have been hearing about people doing raids, which is why I asked. It seemed strange not to find anything about it, but thanks for clearing this up!

What exactly do you mean by raiding? There is no mechanic with that exact name in GW, but there is probably something similar to what you're talking about.

I say raiding as in multiple parties that form a single group to complete a dungeon of some sort and ultimately a boss monster.

Yeah, Eye of the North has a good number of multi-level dungeons (we don't call em raids, but it's pretty much the same thing) like what you're talking about. The only thing is Eye of the North is an expansion and requires one of the other games to be able to access its content.

as RPGmaniac said, there ARE dungeons, but you form one party before going in, it does not combine multiple. the closest GW gets to raiding would be the Unwaking waters mission, Alliance battles, or Vizunah square mission. Other than that, its all just a 1-party deal.

i think what the OP referring to is raiding party similar to the one in Lineage 2 , right...?

if that's what you referring to, we dont have such raid in Guild Wars.

Dungeons, elite areas, vanquishings are all similar to "raids"

Raids are from WoW.

Elite mission/dungeons are were rewards are the highest and people from groups. Mainly because you can only take heros and not henchmen.

Underworld
Fissures of Woe
Urgoz
the deep
DoA
Slaver's Exile

Are the places to go if you want to forms groups with actual people

stick with WOW if you like raids, Gw does not offer large scale battles if that is what you are looking for, the largest party of real people you can have in GW is 12 ppl, only at a few areas, every other time you will be with 8,6,4. and most of the time it will be you and hero's and henchies.

Reason I quit wow was because I got sick of forking over cash.

Any party size over 4 will be cool enough.

Party size for PvE is usually 8 (with 12 people for the canthan elite missions). Just to make it clear GW doesn't have 40 man raids like WoW

This is assuming you don't find a guild (highly recommended)

Yeah I know. I never played much WoW, but I do play Fiesta where we do raid-like missions called "Kingdom Quests", where ~4 parties of 5 fight their way to the end of the mission and kill a boss mob. GW should get pretty interesting.
